Stitching with Purpose

mark on the body

My friend and colleague, Margaret Blank, developed a project called Mark on the Body honoring those living with Type 1 diabetes.  Marks on the body come from daily blood sugar testing and insulin injecting.  Margaret is working on large piece representing the full body with hand stitching "marks".

She recently set up a sub-project to include others who might like to contribute to the installation:
"To anyone who is interested, I'll send a small quilt sandwich ... and some coloured embroidery floss ... All the recipient has to do is fill the centre of the square -- inside the "borders" -- with stitching."  Read more here.

The deadline in August 9, 2016.  Get in touch with Margaret if you would like to join in.

I was happy to play a part, and have just returned my stitched square.

A worthwhile and satisfying project.
