Rocket Exhibits

In May and June 2011, the “Saturn V Moon Rocket” is to be transformed into the world’s largest collaborative art project. Powerful both in message and scale, it will represent the challenges of our future.  Prior to the actual wrapping of the rocket, selections of panels will be shown in various exhibit venues.   Looks like my piece, "Santi, Santi" (pronounced shanti, shanti), will be a part of the travelling show at the Great Explorations Children's Museum in St. Petersburg, FL.  I am very pleased to be a part of this wonderful project.  This show runs from May 1, 2010 - August 1, 2010.  The museums website is www.greatexplorations.org
Great Explorations Children’s Museum, located next to historic Sunken Gardens on 4th Street North in St. Petersburg, is one of Florida’s top museums and one of America’s top museums for children.

See my post from Feb. 9 for more details on the Dream Rocket....

It is Flag Time

Things within the project have been quiet due to some participant changes, however the flags are on the move once again.  Spring energy is feeding them.  Cindy Rinne has completed the wonderful 6th flag of the set.  She is a fiber artist and poet, see her website for more:  www.fiberverse.com    Thank you for your contribution, Cindy!

What's Up This Week

Finished a few new pieces this week. "Rivulets" (12" sq) is going to to SAQA's online Auction.  It was quite fun, started from a monoprint, then painted into and appliques added.
Check it out, along with many more works, on SAQA's Auction page:

"Heart Broken Open" was a process of dyeing, painting and hand embroidery.  The use of embroidery allows me to work at slower pace, thus tapping into the reflective quality of the process, which I love.  I am discovering new ways of mark making which is compelling and fun for me.

The American Quilter's Society (located in Paducah, Kentucky) is interested in bringing the exhibit “Becoming Art at the Seams” to Knoxville, Tennessee, for a show that runs from July 14 - 17, 2010.   This is great news!  More details to follow later once things get finalized.
