Super news, my quilt "Flowing Through" has been accepted to the Museum of Ventura County's Becoming Art at the Seams!  The show runs March 13 to June 20, 2010. Opening night will be on Friday March 12, 6 to 8pm. See website for details: www.venturamuseum.org

My statement:  Fluidity can move through and change what seems solid, like water cutting a path in rock.  I am intrigued with depicting this interplay between, what I have named,  "blocks and flows."

Very exciting!

The Mystery Factor

Woke early with these thoughts on my mind. What is it to trust one's gut instinct? To know that this is right color, or the finishing touch....Initially it takes training and patience to master the tools and the vocabulary. Then comes the time to step out of the way with ego, and trust the intuitive inner guide.  Here I find my training in yoga and meditation to be extremely helpful...for these traditions provide the means to help me be less reactive, more present with an open heart and curious mind. Trusting the inner creative voice is about being open to the mystery and letting expression find it's way out.  It doesn't always come out.  Nor do I always get out of my own way.  It takes practice.  When it works it is wonderful.

New Years Thoughts

Here are some images from small  5x7 "quiltlets" that I made before the holidays that were either sold or given.  I like the simplicity...and as I very slowly move into 2010, that will  be something to explore in the coming months.  Less filling up with stuff, and more opening to what is already within wanting to come out.
