Emily Richardson Exhibit

I went to see the art quilts of Emily Richardson last week at Visions Art Quilt Gallery.  I spent a long time with the quilts and found they drew me in more and more.  I appreciated her use of color and layering of the hand painted fabric - silk mostly.  Very painterly, etherial and translucent. The colors are at once intense and soft.  The hand quilting and stitch work is a wonderful counter point to the delicate silk.  Photos do not show the quilts off very well, so glad I did not rely on that postcard photo to determine whether I would go or not.  The show runs until November 1.  See it if you can!  For info:  www.quiltvisions.org
